Pay that does not need negotiating
Salary bands are published internally by level and reviewed against market twice a year. Two people doing the same job at the same level are paid the same, regardless of how hard they pushed at offer stage.
We hire engineers who ask why before they ask how — then give them the ownership, the mentorship and the time to answer both properly.
We are a consultancy, which means the work changes and the standard does not. You will move between client platforms every twelve to eighteen months, and in each one you are expected to understand the business problem well enough to argue with the brief.
Teams are small and senior-weighted. There is no layer of people between you and the person whose problem you are solving, and no expectation that you bill a number rather than deliver an outcome.
You will present your own work to clients, make architecture calls, and be trusted to say when a plan is wrong.
No junior-heavy pyramids. That is a commercial promise to clients and it is why you will have people to learn from.
Estimates come from the people doing the work. Crunch is treated as a planning failure to fix, not a virtue to reward.
No table tennis, no “we’re a family”. The things below are the ones people tell us actually made a difference.

Conferences, certifications, courses and books, plus one Friday a fortnight set aside for it. A budget nobody has time to spend is not a benefit.
Two days a week in one of our four offices, three wherever you work best. Core hours are 10:00–15:00 local; the rest is yours to arrange around your life.
One week in six at most, compensated, with a hard rule that anything paging a human twice gets fixed or its alert deleted. Nobody is on call in their first six months.
Someone senior whose job description includes your progression, plus a written growth framework so promotion criteria are not a matter of interpretation.
Extended health, dental and vision with no waiting period, an employee assistance programme, RRSP matching to 5%, and parental leave topped up to 100% for 18 weeks.
Every posting includes its salary band in the first reply. If nothing here fits but you think we should talk, write to careers@nextgenix.ca anyway — we keep speculative applications on file for twelve months.
Backend and infrastructure work on multi-tenant platforms: service design, data modelling, and the reliability work that keeps them boring. .NET, Node.js or Go, plus Kubernetes and Terraform.
React and TypeScript against real design systems, with accessibility treated as an acceptance criterion rather than a later ticket. You will own interfaces end to end, including the performance budget.
Landing zones, migration waves and the FinOps discipline behind them. You will build infrastructure as code that other engineers use daily, and you will care about the invoice.
Threat modelling, authenticated testing and pipeline controls across client engagements. You will write findings that engineers can act on and then help them close them.
Lead two delivery squads: hiring, growth, delivery health and the client relationship. Hands-on enough to review a design document, disciplined enough to protect the team's focus.
Research, interaction design and design-system work on enterprise software where the constraints are real. You will sit inside a squad, not in a separate design function.
Paid at a real rate, on a real team, shipping to production with a mentor and code review. Applications open in October for the following summer.
You will always know what the next stage is, who you will meet and what it is testing. Nobody is left waiting without an update.
A person reads it — no keyword filter. You will hear back within five business days either way, including when the answer is no.
A conversation with the hiring manager about what you have built, what you want next, and what the role actually involves. Compensation range is discussed here, not at the end.
A realistic problem close to work we do, with your own tools and the internet available. No whiteboard algorithms, no take-home longer than two hours, and we pay for take-homes if you would rather do one.
Two people you would work with, and time set aside for your questions. You may ask to speak with anyone on the team before deciding.
A written offer inside two business days with the band, level and progression criteria stated. Nothing exploding, and no pressure to answer over a weekend.
NextGenix is an equal-opportunity employer. We accommodate applicants with disabilities throughout recruitment, assessment, selection and employment, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code. Tell us what you need — extra time, a different interview format, materials in advance, an accessible location, an interpreter — by writing to careers@nextgenix.ca. You do not need to disclose a diagnosis to ask, and asking has no bearing on the outcome.
Our full commitments are set out in our accessibility statement. Personal information you send us as part of an application is handled under our privacy policy and kept for twelve months unless you ask us to keep it longer.
We hire people already authorised to work in Canada, and we support permanent-residency applications for employees who are on a valid permit. We are not set up to sponsor from abroad or to employ people outside Canada — where a role says remote, it means remote within Canada, because of how our payroll, benefits and client data-residency commitments work.
Whether you can reason about a problem out loud, make trade-offs you can defend, and work with someone else on it. The technical session uses a scenario close to real client work, with your own editor and full access to documentation and search. We are not testing whether you memorised a graph algorithm you would never write here.
Yes. Requirement lists describe the shape of the role, not a checklist we score you against — most of our strongest hires were missing something on the list when they applied. If the work sounds like what you want to be doing, send it in and tell us why.
We would rather know you exist before a role opens. Send us what you have been building and we will keep it on file — and tell you when something fits.
